I’ve been taking Spanish for about 6 years now, at school, and I decided I wanted to start learning Italian, so I bought a really good Italian language book and started doing some of the lessons. I got down the basics of basics (how to address people, greet them, etc.). However, when I later spoke spanish I accidentally threw some of my new found italian words into the mix and even (sometimes) forgot the spanish translation of the word. My question is:
Do you have any tips as to how I can learn italian without mixing it up with and forgetting spanish words?

Are there a night school to teach Italian ? or should i look for a privet teacher ?
i am in Florence (firenze) for six months. 13 days have past and i only learned few Italian words. i would love to attend an ordinary basic Italian course but that is not an option as i am attending another course(in English) from 8am – 5 pm. i am looking for something between 6pm and 9pm at least 3 days a week.
any tip or information will be very helpful
P.S. i tried searching the internet but all i found is the tourist weekend courses other than that nothing.

in my italian lesson today we had a test.
Basically we had a sheet of paper, and were listening to a tape and we had to tick a box / write a short answer for the answer.
so the tape ’said’
Question one (blah blah blah)
Question one A
because there was 1, 1a, 1b.
(They would say some italian and we would answer questions on what they said)
When it got to question 5 there was 5, 5a, 5b, 5c, 5d.
But instead of going
Question 5
Question 5b etc
They just said
Question 5
-italian words-
Question 6
and we weren’t expecting that! So now most of us aren’t going to get a good mark (there were only about 8 questions)
Then when people got confused miss stopped the tape and talked to us (didn’t help much) and then started again, and rewinded it to somewhere we didn’t know and we didn’t know where we were.
now we are going to get a bad mark. Help?
I ask here because you lot give great advice.
In the question i say ‘we will get a bad mark’ because i asked my friends in the class and they had the same problem.
And this was the end of term assesment (don’t know why it was such a short assessment)
