Like other italian words gender is important. You’d tell a female “stai zitta”. You’d tell more than one person “state Zitti” My grandmother grew up in a house with a mother from Abruzzo and a father from Napoli – their family insisted on speaking english in the house. However she did pick up many words, one of which was her dialect saying “shut up”. She’d say “state zitt” (english phonetically would be stut-uh zeet). — Thanks for watching — Remember, mean comments will not be approved, so don’t waste your time. On second thought, I do find them kind of funny in a sad and pathetic way, so go ahead if you feel like it, thing is I’ll just click delete and block you afterward. The choice is yours. I apologize to those that already saw this episode. There were too many mistakes in the original to let go. —- The lessons are edited at a quick pace. It is encouraged that you pause or replay them as you practice aloud. Repetition is what helps when learning vocabulary. — We really appreciate the help of those that take time to correct our errors. This video is a reupload since the first had a few mistakes. Special thanks to upload.youtube.com for taking the time to correct us in video form. — These lessons are for non Italian speakers wanting to learn a few new words, or for Italians (or other non native English speakers) wanting to learn English words. My accent is California English.
Thanks for all those that have watched, and to all those that have pointed out the errors. We have now uploaded a new version so please go to that video at: www.youtube.com Major omission in this lesson is the color YELLOW. I can’t imagine how we forgot such a basic color. Yellow – Giallo La banana è Gialla – The banana is Yellow. I hate those kinds of oversights. Music by Incompetech… Kevin McCloud
With today’s word of the day we’ve decided to give you two versions of “I don’t know”. Proper italian is “Non lo so”. However, it can also be said “Che ne saccio”. “Boh” is used quite a bit. It basically means, “I don’t know/are you really expecting me to answer that?”. Comments/corrections are encouraged. However, derogatory comments will swiftly bring about a block. Life is to short to deal with assmunches. La vita è troppo breve per trattare coi stronzi. Have a nice day.
We’re still experimenting with the format. We are aiming for shorter videos that will help with vocabulary. ***Disclaimer*** These videos are for beginners that want a little practice hearing Italian. We are not professionals and it is a waste of time for native Italians to critique us. Music by Kevin MacCleod
Feb 1, 2010 We’re turning the comments off. If you would like to learn some Italian words, or English words for Italians, this is the channel for you. This particular video was our first, and it is obvious that we didn’t have a coherent plan. I suggest watching the newer videos. However, this one still has valuable info in it – it just needs to be redone mostly on the technical end. The sound is poor and the video is a bit blurry. Please read the disclaimer on our channel. These are not Lessons from a university, they are a hodge podge of things we think are helpful. — This is a “beta” lesson. Errors in content and the audio is in only one channel. Please look at our more recent videos, thanks… grazie tante! — Basic Italian words and phrases being shared by two untrained people. I’m sure there are a few errors. Sorry about that. Oops. I wrote “Sei” instead of “Si” in the phrase “Come si dice?” Thanks for pointing that out. Mistakes are bound to happen. Hopefully the annotations that I added have helped.
